Hi, there. My name is Gina Williams with Pinpoint Local and I help small business owners right here in Kearny Mesa and Mission Valley get more leads and more sales from their website. How do I do that? Well, it starts with a simple diagnosis. So if your website isn’t bringing you leads on a consistent basis, then it’s missing one of three things.

Gina Williams
  1. Traffic

The first, most common reason that your website might not be bringing you the leads that it should, is a lack of traffic. And it makes sense, right? If nobody is coming to your website, then it’s not going to produce the leads that you’re hoping it will. So a good number to use is (depending on the size of your business), if you’re not getting over 500 unique visitors a month, then we need to start looking at what we can do to bring you more traffic. That could be in the form of search engine optimization, paper click advertising if you want to go that route (it depends on your business), but you need more people seeing your website before it’s going to deliver the leads that you’re hoping for.

2. Design

The second thing that your website could be missing is in its design. Oftentimes, we talk about how content is king when it comes to websites. You may have seen that all over the internet and that’s true for getting people to your website. But if your traffic numbers are up over 500 unique visitors a month, then your traffic is okay and we need to start to look at other things. So, design at this point becomes king.

It could be something like your website isn’t loading quickly enough. Over 60% of searches are now done on mobile devices. If your website isn’t mobile friendly, that will cause people not to continue reading. And then there are other things like big blocks of text and not enough images. These are the kinds of things that could be a problem with the design of your website that makes people not quite so sure if they want to continue reading.

Even your website looking outdated can cause people to turn away. Think about how you search. I’m sure that you have been looking for something and you come across a website that looks like it’s from the early 2000s. And oftentimes, you’re not going to have the confidence in that company that you do in one that looks a little bit more sleek and up to date. It looks like they really have their presence under control, so design can be very important.

3. Call To Action

The third reason that your website might not be bringing you the leads that you’re hoping for is in your call to action. I mean, it’s good to have a good call to action no matter what, but it’s the last thing we look at. After we diagnosed why your website isn’t delivering you leads, the traffic is the most important. Then design. We want to make sure that your website is working properly and that it’s drawing people in and not turning them off. Once those two things are fixed, you know it’s your call to action.

What are you asking them to do? As business owners, it’s important that we have not only these other components in place, but that we make our call to action the thing that you’re asking a client to do, whether it’s to call for an estimate, or download your PDF book or Ebook. At that point, they’ve already spent enough time and you know that they want to see what you have to offer. You’ve got to have that call to action. That’s just something that they can’t say no to.

This is a brief explanation of what could be keeping your website from bringing you leads on a consistent basis. I thank you for taking the time and I hope that it was really helpful, so cheers to more leads and more sales.
